About The Veggie Deli

We started The Veggie Deli as a lifestyle change, following years of corporate jobs. As keen 'foodies', we are passionate about good vegetarian and vegan food and wanted to improve the choices available.

As vegetarians, we know how challenging it can be to find exciting and nutritious options on the menu when eating out. Menus in many pubs and restaurants can be very limited, with often only one or two vegetarian choices, one of which is bound to be risotto. Nothing against a good risotto, but a bit more imagination please!

The most annoying item on a pub menu is normally a dish marked as vegetarian but sprinkled with parmesan cheese. As any vegetarian knows, parmesan is not vegetarian, so clearly, the Chef is not taking the needs of vegetarians seriously.

In fact, one of the reasons that we started The Veggie Deli is that we found we were eating better at home than when we went out. So, we ate out less frequently and, after a while, thought there must be a whole bunch of vegetarians or vegans in the same boat; maybe we could share some new vegetarian ideas; the kind of food that we enjoy and share with our meat eating friends and family.

We enjoy using local ingredients so it makes sense for us to sell our food direct to customers at local Farmers' Markets.

vegetarian street food, vegan, gluten free, handmade veggi

We make vegetarian food that varies with the seasons including pies, bakes, tarts, burgers, veggie scotch eggs, vegetable sformatos, veggie chorizo, and occasional vegan cakes.

The Veggie Deli is accredited as a Farmers' Market producer and we make all of our food fresh in small batches for each market.

Quality ingredients are really important to us so we use organic free range eggs, organic local flour and we ensure that all cheeses and alcohol are suitable for vegetarians.

We are very lucky to have been trained by some real food heroes, incuding Tom Herbert of Hobbs House Bakery, Rachel Demuth of Demuths Restaurant and leading lights in the raw food movement Kate 'Magic' Wood and Russell James.

As part of our lifestyle change, we also offer consultations in Naturopathic Nutrition, Iridology & Reiki.

Julia has trained at the College of Naturopathic Medicine in London and is a qualified Naturopath, Naturopathic Nutritionist, Iridologist and Reiki Master.
