Puy Lentil Polenta with Walnut Ragu
(Vegan & Gluten Free)

Our Puy Lentil Polenta Slices make a fabulous Sunday lunch option; mind you, why wait until Sunday, they're good any day of the week.

Puy lentils and walnuts are mixed with a rich tomato sauce together with our home-made gluten free vegetarian Worcestershire sauce to make a rich ragu which is sandwiched between layers of rosemary infused polenta.

The polenta slices are gluten free and vegan, so contain no cholesterol. Tasty and virtuous!

We like to eat ours for Sunday lunch with roast potatoes and plenty of gravy. In the warmer months, they go well with a tomato salad or ratatouille.

Care and Serving Instructions

After purchase, store in the fridge and use within 3-4 days.

Best served warm, heat in a medium oven 180°C/375°F or Gas mark 4 for approx 15-20 mins. Can be eaten at room temperature, but the polenta is crispier when warmed.

Can be microwaved. Suitable for freezing, allow the puy lentil polenta to thaw before following heating instructions above.

Good Stuff Inside


Polenta is gluten free and made from corn. It has a sweet flavour and properties that help strengthen overall energy, the blood, the stomach and bladder.

It is high in Vitamin A, recent studies have found that it is easier to digest the carotenoids found in polenta than those found in carrots and spinach.

Puy Lentils

Not just for the sandal wearers amongst us, we should all be eating more of these little fellows on a regular basis. Why? - Lentils help to reduce blood cholesterol and to control insulin and blood sugar levels and reduce blood pressure.

They are high in calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, phosphorous, chlorine and Vitamin A.

Puy lentils, unlike their red lentil siblings, hold their shape when cooked. In fact their shape is often connected to coins and it is believed to be very lucky to eat lentils at New Year to enjoy a prosperous year (we prefer champagne!).


Walnuts are one of the best plant sources of protein and an excellent source of omega-3 essential fatty acids used for many key processes in the body including healthy brain function, reducing inflammation and alleviating pain.

They are rich in fibre, B vitamins, magnesium, and antioxidants such as Vitamin E.


Rosemary is a herb and an excellent stimulant that improves poor circulation, lowers cholesterol, eases muscle and rheumatism pains and treats lung congestion and sore throats.

It also stimulates the nervous system, supports mental functions and memory and helps relieve a sluggish gallbladder.
