Mirepoix Nutty Roast
(Vegan, Gluten-free, Dairy free)

To make our Mirepoix Nutty Roast, we've taken the holy trinity of carrots, onions (well, in this case leeks) and celery and added a selection of nuts (almonds, walnuts and peanuts) to revitalise the old school nut roast into a modern day classic.

Perfect for a Sunday lunch roast or equally good for a mid-week mash and beans comfort treat.

Inside our Mirepoix Nutty Roast

Leeks

As a member of the sulphur family which also includes onions and garlic, leeks have these beneficial sulphur compounds but in milder amounts making them easier to digest than standard onions. As well as adding a lovely savoury dimension to any dish they also have antiseptic, diuretic, and anti-arthritic properties.

Carrots

Not only loved by Bugs Bunny– we love them too! They are a rich source of Vitamin A and carotenoids. They also contain B Vitamins, phosphorus, iodine and calcium and the phenol coumarin which helps prevent blood clotting and has anti-cancer properties.

Celery

Valued by the Greeks as a hangover cure and blood cleanser, celery is also used to treat constipation, as a diuretic, to break up gallstones, relieve liver congestion and to heal wounds. Celery can also treat arthritis, rheumatism and gout. It also has one of the highest sodium contents of all vegetables and treats diseases involving chemical imbalances.

Mixed Nuts

Nuts are an excellent source of Vitamin E and essential fatty acids, which are critical for human health. They are high in protein, with some nearly as protein rich as meat. Nuts are good sources of calcium, phosphorous, magnesium and potassium.

Peanuts are not actually a nut but a member of the legume family, they are the second highest source of pantothenic acid and essential nutrient used to synthesise co-enzyme A and proteins, carbohydrates and fats in the body.
