Our Leek and Stilton Bake is a classic combination of leeks, stilton (vegetarian), free range eggs, red lentils, tomatoes and tarragon. Everyone knows how good lentils are for us, this bake is the perfect way to eat more of them (without really noticing!).
A gluten free vegetarian treat that appeals to all ages, the bake can be eaten at room temperature or served warm.
We like to eat ours warm with seasonal vegetables or, with salad and chutney – yummy.
After purchase, store in the fridge and use within 3-4 days.
Can be eaten at room temperature or served warm, heat in a medium oven 180°C/375°F or Gas mark 4 for approx 15-20mins.
Can be microwaved but we prefer oven warmed.
Suitable for freezing, allow the leek and stilton bake to thaw before following heating instructions above.
Allergens: eggs, dairy.
As a member of the sulphur family which also includes onions and garlic, leeks have these beneficial sulphur compounds but in milder amounts making them easier to digest than standard onions.
As well as adding a lovely savoury dimension to any dish they also have laxative, antiseptic, diuretic, and anti-arthritic properties.
When we use eggs in our cooking we always use locally sourced free range eggs.
Eggs are a rich source of protein and omega-3
fatty acids and a range of vitamins and minerals.
Not just for the sandal wearers amongst us, we should all be eating more of these little fellows on a regular basis.
Why? - Lentils help to reduce blood cholesterol and to control insulin and blood sugar levels and help reduce blood pressure.
They are high in calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, phosphorous, chlorine and Vitamin A.
A member of the fruit family, available in all shapes and sizes and a variety of rich reds, yellows, oranges, greens and purples. One of the most well known tomato health benefits is its Lycopene content.
Lycopene is a vital anti-oxidant that helps in the fight against cancerous cell formation.
Tomatoes are also an excellent source of Vitamins C, A and B complex, potassium and phosphorous. Like red peppers – they're a great addition to the male diet for their prostate protecting capabilities.
Tarragon is a bitter herb that helps support the digestive system. It has many medicinal properties including diuretic effects and the ability to lower fevers.
We hope you enjoy our Leek and Stilton Bake.
